BCAI Members Provide Solutions - WallCann for TAFE SA

Solar Spirit Australia - A TAFE SA Initiative Case Study

What TAFE SA wanted to do : Solar Spirit Australia a TAFE SA Initiative

  • Embed the building of the Solar Spirit racing car project into education programs for TAFE SA student curriculum work
  • Access and optimise the best solar research and development in South Australia.
  • Boost technologies and education skills for South Australia to compete in global markets.
  • Build a self-funding, technology rich program with long term benefits for all stakeholders.
  • Accelerate greater resource development into world class training and education.
  • Sell Watt Hour certificates online through the Solar Spirit Shop.
  • Raise funds by selling sponsor products for "Solar Spirit Australia" via the integrated WallCann web shop branded as Solar Spirit Australia

What WallCann did :

  • Implement WallCann 365 sales and marketing to grow brand awareness via Solar Spirit Australia Self-Managed Website.
  • Energise WallCann 365 advocate marketing network to sell sponsor products, the proceeds of which provide Solar Car project funding. WallCann advocates support the Solar Spirit brand building process and sell products from the Solar Spirit branded web shop.
  • Provide marketing strategy and education in the use of search engine marketing and optimization tools to increase the flow of consumer interest enquiries and sales.
  • WallCann has teamed with a number of major suppliers including Blackwoods, Redarc, Stanley (Stanley also own Sidchrome, DeWalt and 8 other international brands), 8zed electronics and Solder Tech trade supplier, supplying apprentice tool kits, car power management kits, electronic and solar products.  Research was undertaken, in consultation with senior TAFE SA lecturers to ask industry sponsors to assemble best value Tool Kits for apprentices. These kits are now available through the Solar Spirit web shop at competitive prices.

  • Utilize the WallCann 365 marketing platform to leverage sponsor support for field days and shows, like the Caravan and Camping Show. WallCann 365 sales platform enabled Solar Spirit Australia website to show case the use of state of the art technology, such as QR marketing codes to link consumers quickly to Solar Spirit sponsor product promotions, registration and information.
  • Social Media integration with Solar Spirit’s own Blog, Twitter and Facebook accounts to help create awareness.

What TAFE SA accomplished:

  • Huge lift in positive brand awareness for TAFE SA, scoring high relevance of education benefits to the community and specifically apprentices.
  • The integrated WallCann 365 marketing created significant awareness among major trade suppliers who were lining up to become sponsors and support the Solar Spirit TAFE SA initiative.
  • Resulted in immediate sale of “Marine Speakers” and “Power Inverters” as soon as the targeted online campaign went live on Google.
  • Brand Exposure on Google (page 1 positions with major keywords Solar Spirit, Solarspirit, Solar Spirit Australia.)
  • Doubled Clicks and pay per click through rate on Google which led to an increase of sales leads for sponsor products.

The first trial of the program at an outdoor venue, Caravan & Camping Show Adelaide resulted in significant Solar Spirit Australia TAFE SA initiative brand exposure to 40,000 members of the community.  Sponsor product revenues generated $6,000.00 in direct sales. Sales continued to flow through immediately after the show.

  • Solar Spirit promotion support material was well prepared:
    • great promotion banners complete with QR codes latest technology web link
    • TAFE SA initiative education program solar spirit story board and fliers
    • Watt Hour fliers and certificates
    • product fliers
    • product pick up location flier
    • 2 TV's with promo DVD loop players
    • show manning schedule and contact plan
    • POP purchase PC and cash sales book
    • InBusiness media and press coverage
  • 600 Solar Spirit TAFE SA initiative balloons with QR codes were handed out. These simple balloons made an impact, with 600 little mobile merchandisers (children) with parents walking through the whole show. The balloons kept children occupied with healthy play activity, which the parents repeatedly remarked was “better than a games consul”. The links on the balloons are already working, more visitors to website and even online buyers for the Watt Hour of Power.
