Technology development is not slowing down. However, many organisations are failing to reap benefits such as better productivity from a game changing faster, lower cost processes.
Why is that important? For anyone who has travelled to China or India you will see that Australia is rapidly loosing the technology edge in manufacturing and business in a great many areas.
To work on solutions you need to acknowledge the problem. This goes to the heart of the challenge when we look at how adaptable or alternatively how inflexible the organisation has become. This can be measured by how quickly, or slowly the organisation can absorb best practice development. Keeping an organisation process impermeable to change has become an art form.
In short how do we change from an impermeable to a porous culture? Can we avoid having a 2 speed economy?
To work on improvement and keep our comparative skills and business advantage we can ask how much time is allocated to education and why is that time important?
Questions, questions, questions where do we start? Well are we connected and listening to the right people? Those who may have tackled and even solved these issues.
Becoming a BCAI member is probably a good place to start that connection?
